Mid-Year Crisis

It's coming to June already & before I have the time to ponder about things, half a year is gone. Gosh...& I bet the next half gonna be over just as fast too. I don't really know what I have been doing the past 5 months...or whether I've at least, TRY to work on my 2007 resolutions. Haha...scary to even just type that resolution word. I think I was too busy finding myself earlier this year that I didn't make any resolution at all. Hmm...if I consider saving money, getting a driving license & be a better person (I'm already so nice actually!) my resolutions, then looks like I gonna flop this year too. Hahaha! But I excel at what I like most: TRAVELING. I'm planning to go off to somewhere alone. (I know some people will roll their eyes & exclaim..AGAIN?!) Any ideas, my avid blog readers? Places on my list include Bali (wasn't enough the last time) , Dubai & Cairns. I tell you, traveling is super addictive. The sad thing is...I save money, yes, to travel. Oh well, if I'm happy...why not, right? Better than keeping the money in the bank & I feel miserable still. Or, let's just wait for the very right time & purpose to save. I know, I know...it sounds duh.

I just realise that many of my colleagues are reading my blog. I dun mind, as long as the Empress Dowager don't get the wind of it. Not that I'll shut up if she knows anyway. Ahaks! Oh yah...let's put our hands together & welcome Liah Kamis to Blogspot! After like soooo long, she's finally put her lil foot into blogging. I won't be surprised if I see her pics more than her entries. I'm waiting for the "ripe" time to link her blog to mine. :)

I told someone something the past 2 days. Damn....I regret my actions! So not me, lorr. Arrggh...so where do I put my face now? And...suddenly, EVERBODY wants me to be attached. My folks are encouraging me to dress properly (as if I wear anyhow like that!) coz they said that I look intimidating! Whatever larr. Fizah & Suliana giving me tips on getting to know the opp sex better (am I that unapproachable?). Siti & Wayne busy speculating when I'll be attached. Justin's always asking if there's someone new. OMG...& when I was with Liah the other day, our conversation goes:

Me (excitedly) : Liah! I have something to tell you!
Liah: What?! You are attached?

See? Am I that bad, meh?

The KL Trip

My long awaited trip with my buddies was finally accomplished last weekend! Though it's just KL, the thought of hanging out with my fav girls made me kinda excited. Our sole purpose of going to KL was actually to club, larr. Fizah is a regular clubber there, but for Suliana & me...it's our first time! Better ever than never. Too bad Maria couldn't come with us. Must drag her the next time around.

We took Aeroline ok..."The Convenient Way to Fly". Hahaha! Very comfortable double deck coach. Oh well, for the cost of $47, it has to be good!

Suliana & I went in the morning while Fizah joined us in the evening. We got 2 rooms at Hilton KL. I still love staying there though it's a bit far from the city area.

Our rooms at Level 25! Going out to 1 Utama on our 2nd day...

I couldn't believe I didn't get anything from KL! We went back to our room after window shopping for a bit. Practiced taking pics of my own in the comfort of our room.

Watching MTV.

I got a craving for desserts so I went downstairs to get 2 slices of cakes. There was a 50% discount for Conrad staff anyway. :)

Sheesh..I forgot his name. I shall call him Mr A. Nice fella...he's Fizah's friend & also our bodyguard. He took us around KL & watched over us in the club too. :)

Kenny Rogers for lunch before taking our departure coach back home!

See the name on the coach? Directly translated, it means "Durian Bird". Hahaha!

Sick!

Looks like this year is not exactly a good one for me. Not in the health area at least. It's just May & I fell sick 3 times! This hasn't include those few times where I just had a slight headache & popping panadols can help. I was planning to go KL..well, tomorrow but I had to fall sick since 2 days ago. Damn! I think I haven't taken MC for 3 days straight (except the time I had chicken pox during pri. sch. days) & visited the clinic for 3 times too...on every day I got the MC! My parents were wondering why I'm always sick these days....not like I want to lorr. I hate lying on my bed, with my body feeling soooo hot. Hate fevers.

Anyway, visited Raffles Medical at Millenia Walk on Tuesday & got MC for a day coz of high fever. Went home to sleep the entire day (I was awake for only..2 hrs?). When the next morning comes, my fever still haven't gone down. So..I have to make my way to Raffles Medical, this time at CCK. The doctor took my temperature & shook his head. (Like why he did that for, seh?) He told me I should have gotten 2 days MC in the first place & if my fever didn't go down by today, I better prepare to go A & E! Hmmm...sounds scary worr. Went back home...ate my lunch & medicine...& within 30 mins, I'm feeling so giddy that I vomited! Same goes when I had dinner....again I vomited. Gosh...I was traumatized to eat medicine again. So, just now, for the 3rd time, I went to Raffles Medical at Millenia Walk (I need to take something from my locker anyway) & told the doctor to look into my medication. What medicine makes an already sick person like me even...sicker???! Glad he changed my antibiotics. Sighs....I'm thinking of loading myself with more Vitamin C in future. So not me to fall sick easily, hokays! Thank you to my colleagues who covered my shift. I know you guys didn't have it easy...neither do I.

While Suliana & Fizah are getting excited to go KL tomorrow, I hope I'll be fine. If not, I'll just stay in the room with a duvet...watching cable on the plasma TV of Hilton's. :)

P/s: Someone said that it's good I'm getting to know him better through his friends. And he'll do likewise too. (I wonder how true is that) Hmmm~ :)

Melting Over Dinner~

Daphne had decided to pack her stationary & heels for the greener pastures. I told her I gonna dedicate this entry to her (Cheh..so feeling!). Hmm..but seriously, I didn't really feel the "impact" of her leaving till now that I get down to this entry. So Daphne...here it goes:

Thank you for teaching me to draft proper emails, scan & helping with the admin stuff at Front Office.

Thank you for helping to buy coffee, tea & Milo for the back office last time.

Thank you for listening to my numerous rants at work.

Thank you for asking my well-being & cheering me up when I was down, even though it's not work-related. (Very, very sweet of you & I appreciate your efforts! )

Thank you for being a good friend & a colleague!

I was glad I didn't see Daphne on her last day. But I still mention... Daphne's desk, Daphne's report...Daphne's this & Daphne's that. Sighs...But I'm happy that she found a hopefully better job! :) Anyway, the usual us went for dinner at Melt's Cafe at Oriental Hotel last Monday. Sort of Daphne's farewell dinner, larr. Nice food again. Hehe.

Melt's Cafe entrance

It's always nice to have good meals with colleagues...who can double up as my buddies!

I wanted to snap a pic with Daphne only, but those 2 buggers just had to squeeze in. Hmmph!

See how crazy we can be....That's why there're lotsa "stories" about Front Office

The portrait of the Boyanese!

The close pals ...& including Suelyn, of course! :)

Cindy's idea to place the camera on the floor. Kinda fun...& the pic turned out well, yah!

And we thought....why not take a candid one too? ;)

I shall name this shot...Graduates of Conrad University, Bachelor of Arts in Bitching Management. Hahaha!

Egyptian Night!

Have you tried Egyptian cuisine before? I did for the first time just now. Well, I feel that Turkish, Lebanese & Egyptian food all taste rather similiar...or it's just me who thought they do. I haven't spend a good evening at Arab St for a long time, last year was the last one I remember. Fizah & Maria are regulars already...so it's just me & Suliana being the "suaku" girls. They took us to an Egyptian restaurant called Altazzag.

Located at the junction of Haji Lane and Baghdad Street, this quaint little Egyptian restaurant is a good place to unwind & ease the stress away. Tucked away in a corner along the narrow lane, it offers more privacy, even if you're sitting along the five-foot-way. Hmmm...sounds weird but I like the view from where we were seated. Food wise... is good & reasonably priced too. I personally love the potato wedges! It's unique, in a sense that there's a special sauce to go with the wedges. Must try!

Was deciding whether to go for lamb shawarma or beef shish kebab. I went for the latter. :)

We had fun gossiping & story-telling! I just realise that each of us are of a different "marital status". Suliana is a mother, Fizah is married, Maria is attached & I'm a swinging singleton! The married ladies were sitting on 1 side, while the singles were sitting on the other. We had a mini debate on being single or married is better (for now, at least. Haha!). So, Fizah & Suliana were giving me tips to attract men, but also telling me the perks of being single. Keke....They even asked me to start watching "Sex & the City".

Every meeting with these meenahs are wonderful. Great friends they are!

See?? The vainpots are busy touching up their make-up. By the way, Fizah, Suliana & me use MAC cosmetics. We are really endorsing it, man. *laughs out loud*

After the meal, we head down to Kampong Glam Cafe for teh-tariks. Don't these girls look like they're doing a teh-tarik campaign? Imagine Fizah saying "Teh-tarik is nice" & Suliana chirps in, "Drink it at Kampong Glam Cafe! Only cost 70 cents". Hahaha!

Shiok ah!

Maria: When are you gonna pillion me again, ah? :)

Fizah is always the career-minded woman. But we have the same vision on marriage. Period.

Arab St at midnight. Home sweet home.

P/s: I can't wait to go on the trip with you girls! Insyallah.

Minor Bout of Taitai-ing!

I slept for about an hr when I reached home from work this morning. Suliana was meeting me at my void deck & we planned to go to....Little India! Why Little India, you must be wondering. Well...I received news that Mustafa Center carries Victoria's Secrets fragrances. I just wanna give it a try badly (Sounds duh, horr?). Suliana suggested thosai for lunch but I was craving for nasi briyani. EVERYBODY seems to be having it from a particular stall at Tekka Market. My bestie indulged in my craving but she had Indian rojak instead. Talking about going Indian today. Hehe! Just doesn't make sense to me if we have say, pasta at Little India, larr. Hmmm...& we were also thinking of nasi padang at Hjh Maimunah's one of these days. Shiok!

My chicken briyani was wonderful!

After lunch, we checked out a beauty parlor called Rupini's, located opposite Tekka Market. Gonna try their threading services next time, at the recommendation of Fizah & Daphne. Walked for a good 10 mins to Mustafa Center....& I found my Victoria's Secret. Suliana was in her "feel-good" mood & she gave me the idea to go for manicure & pedicure. Tsk, I just did a pedicure while she did both. We did the nail services at Charm (Far East Plaza). Great service, good nail work & reasonable prices! I may drop by again before my KL trip. :) I couldn't resist this chic dress from Toss, so I bought it. Arrgghh...it's really hard to save money, worr.

Followed Suliana to fetch Rina from her day care center....& to her home to watch dvd!

Smiling gleefully at the camera...

I bet Rina wants Ben & Jerry's as much as me & Suliana want them too....

But we only gave her Sweet Talk. Haha!

Admiring our pedicures.....

And Suliana's first manicure!

There was this lady doing her nails beside Suliana at the salon. The boyfriend (we assume) didn't wanna walk around Far East Plaza by himself & so....he did a pedicure, while waiting for her! The lady suggested casually for him to do his nails coz he looked bored & the guy agreed, just like that! He didn't even grumble or tell the lady to hurry. Suliana was telling me, when the guy asked, on where to go after the nails thingy, the lady answered "Shoes! I need more shoes!" (That means shopping larr). The guy replied simply by asking the lady again if she wanna go home to change first or straight out shopping. Goodness! I wanna find such boyfriend too! Hmmph~

"Vanilla Lace" is for Liah. "Sweet Temptation" & "Romantic Wish" are for me. :) Smells far too sweet for my liking though. I think I shall stick to Clinique's Happy Heart, no?

Oh, Hamsa has edited & uploaded one of my pics in Bali to his website. (Like after so long, mamat?!) See it for yourself :

Spiderman In Town~

Mr Weird asked if I wanna watch Spiderman 3 coz he got free tics. I'm not really into Spidey movies & whatsmore, Spiderman 1 & 2 left me some memories of the past. But since I was free & the timing was alright, I agreed to watch before my night shift just now. The movie was ok lar, though Mr Weird said it's a disappointment. We watched at Vivo City & gosh...that mall is always full of people from God knows where. Walking IN Vivo itself is like walking ALONG Orchard Rd, worr. Had dinner at Burger King after the movie before Mr Weird sent me to work. I wanted to take a cab but the queue was horrendously long! So, it was great that my friend could give me the ride. :) He rode till Arab St coz he thought I'm working at the Concourse. Now, there's a Malay saying that sounds like "If you're shy to ask, you'll lose your way". I told him exactly that & he purposely swirled the bike to scare me off. That's evil! Anyway, I think I impress him with my superb sense of directions. Haha! (Liah will definitely agree!)

Suelyn has made the progression. Helmi is cross-training. I must get Nickole to "learn swimming & then, swim as fast as we can so that we can survive in the ocean"!

The Joy of Blogging

I spend lotsa time catching up with dear friends the past few days. Well, from the many previous posts you can tell, right? It's partly true that when you're single, suddenly you seem to have more time to devote to your friends, besides work. I felt bad that I didn't put in extra effort last time but I learnt the hard way. Indeed, I fell with a huge "thud" but I thank God, for the many "hands" that pulled me up. :)

So I met Sze Luan yesterday, before the start of my night shift. I last saw her before I went to Bali & she, to New Zealand. She's one of the few poly mates I'm very close to (besides Fizah & Maria). And when we meet up, there are soooo many things to talk about that just dinner & coffee is not enough!

When I came into the back office for my shift, I was surprised to see my colleague, FRANKIE starting his first blog! Haha! It's like...WHOA, I tell you. We should really start a forum online or another blog called "The Conrad Bloggers". I'm touched that some of my colleagues are religiously reading my blog everyday coz I thought, mine is too simple (with no videos & chat boxes all). Anyway, Frankie already started his...so Liah: when's yours????

Oh, I watched the "Cinta" dvd already (the one I borrowed from Maria). It's about 5 different scenarios of love, set in a metropolitan city. It sends out a simple message about love & a great movie to watch with your dear ones. But I watched alone lorr. I like this line from the movie:

"Sometimes, the person we love most, is the most difficult person to love"

How true.

Aromatherapy, Baby!

Yay! I found my aroma burner! Well, not exactly the prettiest, but I'll make do with it. It looks somewhat Zen & Balinese lar. I wonder myself, why didn't I think of getting the burner when I was in Bali. And there are many other things I wanna get over there, can?

Suelyn, Nickole, Liah & Sue: When are we going to Bali, ah? I can hear the waves calling for me again. Keke!

To start on the aromatherapy regime, I also bought a Lavender essential oil & "Tropical Forest" home fragrance at The Body Shop. And Suliana joked with the shop assistant that I'm so stressed that I need to get 2 oils at the same time. Duh! Like feeling lavender-ish in a forest that kind...Goodness!

My Virgin Motorbike Ride

I've been wanting to go to the new Ikea store at Tampines for the longest time. Met Bedah at CCK, took the MRT to Woodlands & then a bus down to Tampines. The journey was about an hour only! It's better than taking the MRT all the way to Tampines.

Suliana was struggling to put on make-up in the bus. She was late (as usual) & STILL, didn't have the time to do it at home. Tsk.

And she brought along her so-thick Harry Porter book....

We both had nasi padang at the Ikea Cafe. The food reminds me of those served in hospitals...

I love my baju from Sydney. I wish I had shopped for more!

We were envious of the stuff in Ikea. I started to dream what my own place will be like. I'm sure it'll be a nice and comfy abode. Anyway, the store is soooo huge. I'm amazed by the self-service furniture area, just before the check out (exit). I was looking for candle holders for aromatherapy but nothing caught my eye. Then I thought of getting a bowl for putting potpourri but was too lazy to bring them back. Haha...so in the end, only Suliana got something for her home & Rina.

The 2 of us walked around for a bit at Tampines Mall before taking a coffee break at Starbucks. Suliana had to go off & I was left alone for a good 1 1/2 hrs. Planned to meet Maria & her friends at her void deck before going for dinner together.

I was waiting for Maria & I realise.....Her block is just opposite Faizal's! By the way, he's touring Europe now, for 18 days! Bloody hell...When's my turn?

Maria & her 3-patties burger!

So, Maria introduced me to her biker friends, called Hairul & "Weird". Now, Mr Weird has a real name of course, but since she calls him by that nick name, I shall address him the same, in my blog at least. Maria pillioned me to Jalan Kayu for Mad Jack. I'm her first pillion (besides her boyfie) & it was also my first bike ride! She was nervous & actually, I was too, though I've full trust in her. She asked me to pillion Mr Weird...but I don't feel right to pillion a guy I just met for 5 mins. Maria asked me hug her & not to let go at all times while we were on the road.

The ride was alright & we reached Mad Jack's safely. Had dinner & chatted till about 11 pm before Mr Weird asked if I know my way home. I was like...."Of course I know! It's just TPE, SLE, BKE & KJE". Even though I have no bike or car license, I definitely know directions well. :) I thought he was just asking for fun but he actually meant to send me home. Maria gave me the assurance & I decided..oh well, just go ahead with it. Hmmm....for a person who has never taken a ride on a bike before, I'm impressed with his riding. He has a big bike but indeed, like Maria said "You'll feel safe on his bike". That's ...kinda true. So, thanks Mr Weird, for the cool ride home. :)

Sunday DVD-ing with The Meenahs

Maria, Fizah & I finally met up today after sooo long. Being a Sunday, Maria suggested to just lepak at Fizah's place & watch dvds. I brought along my Australia pics (still in my digicam) & a bag of nachos. Maria brought Uno cards (we don't do mahjong, larr) & more dvds. In the end...we only managed to watch one. It's this malay movie called "Qabil Khushry Qabil Igam" starring Erra Fazira, Hans Issac (so handsome!), Ziana Zain & Rusdi Ramli. The show was very funny in the beginning, before leading to several tragedies. We 3 girls were laughing so hard & then... Maria & I were tearing. Fizah denied crying...But I know she felt emotional too. Hahaha!

7 years of friendship...& going strong. Especially now when one of them is "matchmaking" me with her friend. :)

We ordered Rite Pizza...& they came in Buy 1 Get 1 Free too. I told Fizah to just get a regular pizza but she insisted on medium. Alas....too much food!

I was hoping Maria could finish the food lorr....

Can really tell how MUCH they ate from the faces & how they pose for the pic...Hehe!

I've been wanting to watch this show...Glad I could borrow the dvd from Maria. Shall watch it on my next off day. Yippee!

And Maria is so sweet to give Fizah & I...a earring holder each! There's a thin material with tiny holes attached to the printed cloth. So, I just need to "hang" my earrings into the holes. Very unique!

We gossiped & chatted till about 11pm. Thanks meenahs...for the wonderful evening. Definitely made my otherwise gloomy Sunday, brighter. :)
